Professional profiles of the high state representatives - The President of the Republic April 1991- November 2011

Open Data Albania has conducted a research work on the professional profiles of the high State representatives, respectively individuals in the tenure of the President of the Republic.The research analysis was conducted from April 1991 to November 2011 after the first pluralist elections and fall of the Communist Regime. The data have been researched on the official sites of the main institutions such as the Parliament, the Council of Ministers and the Presidency.

After the first multiparty elections held in Albania on Mach 31, 1991, the new pluralist parliament dominated by the members of the parliament of the Albanian Labour Party, with the proposal of the Albanian Labour Party, chose Mr. Alia, President of the Republic, on April 30, 1991. Mr. Alia graduated in the School of the Party. Following the anticipated parliamentary elections of March 22, 1992 where the coalition of the opposition won, on April 3, 1992, Mr. Alia resigned from his tenure of President. Mr. Alia was followed by Mr. Berisha in the duty of the President of the Republic. Mr. Berisha graduated from the University of Tirana, Faculty of Medicine. Following the elections’ triumph of the opposition coalition headed by him, Mr. Berisha was elected President of the Republic on April 9, 1992, and re-elected on March 3, 1997. He resigned from the President’s tenure one month after the loss of the elections of the Democratic Party and the victory of the left coalition. After the elections, won by the left coalition and headed by the Socialist Party, on July 24, 1997, with the proposal of the Socialist Party, the Albanian Parliament elected Mr. Meidani, President of the Republic. His mandate ended on July 24, 2002. Mr. Meidani graduated in the branch of Physics. The President Alfred Moisiu was elected as the Head of State from July 2002 to July 2007. Referring to his bibliography Mr. Moisiu studied in the Military Engineering School. The current President Mr. Bamir Topi Topi was elected President of the Republic of Albania on July 2007.President Topi   graduated in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The professional profile of the Presidents from April 2011 to November 2011 has been respectively : School of Party in 4,61% of the time; Medicine in 25, 71% of the time, Physics in 24,30% of the time, Military Engineering in 24,30% of the time and Veterinary Medicine in 21,08% of the time.
From April 1991 until November 2011 there hasn’t been any President in tenure with professional profile in Humanitarian or Political Sciences
