Municipalities found to have caused Economic Damage during SAI's auditing of revenues and expenditures for January-December 2018

Open Data Albania is investigating the economic damage caused by municipalities and established by audits conducted during 2018 by the Supreme Audit Institution (KLSH). In that year, the institution audited 33 municipalities. The research data were extracted from SAI's Bulletin on the conducted audits. The selection of municipalities that are audited is made in the annual auditing plan. Municipalities and institutions are not audited every year, but at the time of auditing, they are audited for the entire period since the latest audit. Vora Municipality is ranked as the municipality, which has caused the largest economic damage in 2018, followed by Belsh; Dibra; Lezha, and Konispol.

In the end of these audits, SAI filed several report for the initiation of criminal proceedings. In the case of Belsh Municipality, SAI has referred the Mayor, Director of Agriculture, former Head of Urban Planning and a former lawyer for further criminal proceedings. Similarly, SAI has also referred former communes of Ungrej, Blinisht, and Zejmen of Lezha municipality for further crimnal proceedings. Criminal proceedings have also been requested for three officials in Konispol.
