Contributors to the social security scheme in urban and rural areas 2008-2014

2 vite mė parė
Open Data Albania has updated data on the number of contributors to the social security scheme under each category. Up to 2013, the number of self- employed in agriculture contributors was calculated on the basis of periods paid by individuals considering purchases made here since 1994, because of the late payment interest?s forgiveness. This is one of the reasons due to which the 2014 report on the number of contributors for certain years is different from previous reports of the same year.

As the number of self-employed in agriculture gets a big weight in the total of contributors, this change in the calculation basis brings visible effects in the total number of contributors. The total number of contributors was the highest in 2014 with an average of 654,563 contributors, marking so a 16.6% increase compared with 2013. On the other hand, the lowest number of contributors was recorded in 2009, with about 548 765 contributors.

Correction of the number of self-employed in agriculture has brought a huge imbalance between the number of urban and rural contributors. During the years 2008-2014, about 83% of the contributors to the social security scheme were urban contributors. The year 2014 marks the year with the highest number of contributors both urban and rural ones.
