The structure and Share Capital of non - bank financial institutions - NRC extract in May 2014

Open Data Albania has researched the share capital of non-bank financial institutions operating in the country. Non-bank financial institutions are companies that perform activities of financial intermediation and other activities closely related to financial intermediation but which are not allowed to accept deposits. Some of these activities include: leasing, lending, investment in securities, etc. Insurance companies and pension funds are excluded from this category of institutions.

The data are updated by the management and publishing procedure of company's data in the National Registration Center NRC. The data were analyzed in two dates. Date of establishment of each institution as a business organization, and the date May 1, 2014 as the date of valuation of the extracts from NRC. In the analysis of ODA are only considering capital increases that are audited, recorded and published in the National Registration Center. The process of registration and publication in the center constitutes an act with legal consequences for business organizations.

In total there are twenty one non-bank financial institutions operating in Albania. Four of them operate as lending institutions, two as Microcredit institutions, six others perform financial lease activities, five of them offer payment service and money transfers, three carry out Factoring and one offers financial advisory services, intermediary and other services for foreign exchange.

The charter capital invested in the startup phase of all active non-bank financial institutions in Albania has a value of 2.6 billion ALL. The institution with the highest charter capital is 'Shoqėria e Parė Financiare e Zhvillimit 'FAF sh.a' with a value of 1.03 billion invested in the establishment. Its activity started on the 31th of December 2008 and it offers financial lending.

On May 1, 2014 the charter capital of all non-bank institutions is estimated to be 7.4 billion ALL or translated at the exchange rate of that date 72.3 million USD or 52.8 million Euros. The institution with the largest capital on that date is the Albanian Post Office with respectively 1.64 billion ALL of capital. It must be said that this institution has the greatest longevity considering that it has been operating in the market for 22 years.

The largest growth capital, based on the documentation presented at the NRC, since the start of the financial activity until May 1, 2014, has been experienced from 'VisionFund Albania sh.p.k'.  Its capital has increased 1,562 times in the seven years that it has been operating in the market.

Non-bank financial institutions are still in the early stages of development in Albania, but in the future their importance should increase, as has happened in other developed countries, where these institutions play an important role in financial intermediation in the economy.
